Siji Minfu
Dongcheng, Beijing
Beijing's favorite roast duck with the best seat in town: a window table overlooking the Forbidden City moat.
Siji Minfu does what Da Dong does for half the price and none of the ceremony - and its Dongcheng branch has a terrace directly over the Forbidden City moat. The duck is roasted over fruitwood, carved tableside, and wrapped in pancakes so thin you can read through them.
It is the duck Beijing locals actually recommend to out-of-town friends. Go at 17:00 sharp or expect to wait an hour.
Best for: Roast duck with a Forbidden City view, at local prices.
