Old Chang Chun Bing
Daoli, Harbin
Thin pancakes rolled around Dongbei's hearty fillings - the north's answer to the burrito.
Chun bing - thin wheat pancakes - are the vehicle for Dongbei cuisine's greatest hits: shredded pork in sweet bean sauce, fried eggs, cucumber, and spring onion, rolled up and eaten by hand. Old Chang has been doing it for generations, and the central branch is where locals take out-of-towners.
Order a couple of pancake sets and share. It is fast, cheap, and the perfect warm-up after the ice festival.
Best for: Dongbei's rolled-up comfort food, straight from the griddle.
