Id Kah Mosque

Id Kah has anchored Kashgar's old town since 1442 - a vast courtyard mosque of yellow walls and carved timber, surrounded by the warren of lanes where Uyghur life still runs on its own clock.

Non-Muslims can visit the courtyard outside prayer times. Combine it with a slow wander of the old town lanes and a bowl of Uyghur pilaf nearby.
