Baofeng Lake
Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie
A jade lake in a green amphitheater, crossed by singing boats in the morning mist.
Baofeng Lake sits in a natural amphitheater of cliffs, its jade-green water kept still by the mountains around it. The way to see it is by boat, and the boat is the show: local singers in ethnic dress serenade each passing vessel, their voices echoing off the rock walls.
The morning mist, the waterfalls, and the mirror-still water make it the most serene hour in Zhangjiajie. It is a half-day trip from the city, best combined with the Grand Canyon.
Best for: A singing boat across a mirror-still mountain lake.
