Qinhuai River Night Cruise
Qinhuai, Nanjing
Glide past lantern-lit pavilions on the river that made Nanjing famous - the city's classic night out.
The Qinhuai River was Nanjing's pleasure quarter for a thousand years, and its night cruise is the city's most romantic tradition: a slow boat past pavilions, temples, and the Confucius Temple's illuminated facade, all strung with red lanterns.
Go after dark when the lights come on, and sit outside. The commentary runs in English and Chinese, and the best view is from the stern on the return leg.
Best for: Nanjing by lantern light, from the water.
